Our diverse portfolio of festivals are shortlisted for six categories in the UK Festival Awards ranging from the family friendly Splendour to the electronic all-nighter Everywhere. It’s urban multi-venue offering Dot to Dot, a previous winner of Best Metropolitan Festival and marking its tenth anniversary this year, is in the frame for the title once again along with Hit the Deck while No Tomorrow, the two-dayer in Wollaton Park is up for Best Small Festival and Best Dance Event.
This year’s Splendour, up for Best Family Festival and Best Medium-Sized Festival, was one of the most successful in its eight year history. Glorious sunshine shone all day on the 20,000 strong crowd lapping up stand out sets by headliners The Specials, James, Lawson and Bananarama at Wollaton Park. The expanded kids’ area, workshops and bigger and better fringe entertainment were well received by the large number of families enjoying the festival.
We pulled in an appealing mix of interesting new music and chart-toppers for the second expanded outing of No Tomorrow – including huge headline sets by John Newman, Jessie Ware, James Bay, DJ Fresh, Gorgon City and Hannah Wants. Shortlisted alongside Everywhere, the sold out Bank Holiday all-nighter presented by dollop across several venues in Nottingham, we are hoping to top the Best Dance Event category.
With a reputation for unearthing the hottest new talent around, Dot to Dot once again took some of the best new music to more than forty venues across Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham and we hope it will go on to regain its Best Metropolitan Festival crown on its milestone tenth birthday.
Nominations also include the multi-venue alternative offering, Hit The Deck which featured rock, punk, metal and hardcore sets from the likes of Skindred, While She Sleeps and Cancer Bats in venues across Nottingham and Bristol.
Anton Lockwood, our Promotions Director, said: “2015 saw one of the biggest and best Splendour Festivals in history with the new Kid’s Zone, Wonderland Party area and Fringe Stage really well received, while No Tomorrow continues to grow and develop. Once again, Dot to Dot was much in demand from new artists looking to play to music-savvy audiences and our move to Manchester’s Northern Quarter with its wealth of independent venues proved popular.”
